(Starring Peter Macqueen) Sown with brilliant seeds of gardening wisdom, this charming one-man show is a love story – a humorous portrayal of a single-minded yet gentle man with a passion for plants.
Pottering amongst the seeds and cuttings at the back of his ramshackle greenhouse in the garden of a Gloucestershire manor house is Herbert Pinnegar. Now in his twilight years, he is full of memories and tales of a bygone era. In between potting up and potting on, he recounts his journey from orphan boy to legendary Head Gardener and tells of his friendship with the Lady of the House, Mrs. Charteris.
Written by Reginald Arkell and dramatised by Alfred Shaughnessy, this production is supported by the Hathersage Players with all ticket profits going to the Parkinson’s Disease Society (courtesy of Pam Enderby, Emeritus Professor of Community Rehabilitation at the University of Sheffield).
Tickets (£10) are on sale at www.hathersageplayers.org or 01433 764 064. Don’t delay! With such a Star performing, we expect this to sell-out!
